“Be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.” [Ephesians 5:18-21]
Today I am thankful for new friends. This morning, Matt and I spent some time with an American couple who just moved here from California. They’re here for the next two years to help out with the student ministry we’re involved with, Remix, and we wanted to show them around Grenoble a little bit. We didn’t do anything special; we walked around the farmers’ market, went to FNAC, showed them one of our favorite (free) museums, and ate lunch together. But it was really nice for us to connect with them, and it turns out we have quite a few interests in common! Mainly some geeky things, like Back to the Future, Battlestar Galactica…Meet the Robinsons (most underrated Disney movie in my opinion)! So, yeah, I’m thankful for making new friends :)
What are you thankful for today?
Ah that sounds like fun! I hopefully will be able to meet up with an American girl (strangely enough also from Cali) that lives not too far from me! I haven’t met many people here so far, so I’m really looking forward to it. I also love Back to the Future, my husband and I just talked about re-watching the movies soon, love them! :)
It’s great meeting fellow Americans over here in France! It’s so comforting :) And yay for Back to the Future!!
Hallo Maggie!
:) I am nearly all caught up with your posts on thankfulness this morning and I am so happy that I was able to catch up whilst there is still a lot of November left to look forward too! :) In this way, I can wake up knowing you’ll have a new post of gratitude for me to read, and hopefully, each new day soon I’ll have more SFN posts for you to enjoy as well! :)
Ooh, I loved “Meet the Robinsons”! And, you know how much I love “Back to the Future”! :) I think more geeky interests and passions should be celebrated! Although, half the time I never realise just what part of me is considered ‘geeky’ or not!? Laughs. I have oft found that half the motion pictures that I adore to see over and over again are not the regular ones people talk about, so I am always celebrating finding someone who goes, “Ooh, you too!?” I have had several of those moments this week when I revealed my favourite sci-fi motion pictures & tv serials! I was quite surprised when I learnt that two readers either didn’t hear of the sci-fi serials or never heard/saw my SFN film selections for review this month! Wow. I was quite surprised!
The best bits to experience with new friends are the places you took them — what better way to see if you have something in common with a new potential friend than to take them to your favourite haunts!? You get to have random conversations and see if your interests align to where meeting up with them again will be either a treat or a day you might struggle to find the joy!?
I am always thankful for places to go that do not cost an entrance fee as your free to observe and enjoy what is offered without worrying about the expenditures! Your focus can be on conversation instead! :) What was in season at the farmer’s market!? You know I adore local farmer’s markets — I’d be keen to know what you could find this time of the year?!
It is currently mushroom season over here in France…but I do not like mushrooms at all, unfortunately. However, clementines are also big right now and je les adore! ;)
