Hello fellow Austenites! Today is the last day of Roof Beam Reader‘s Austen in August event, and I’m very happy to say that I have a giveaway for you to celebrate!
This month, while listening to Sense and Sensibility on audiobook, I got a little crafty and made a set of tile coasters. Each one is themed after one of Jane Austen’s novels, so Emma‘s coaster is sweet and girly while the one I made for Northanger Abbey is more gothic-looking.
Giveaway Rules:
- This giveaway is open until 11:59PM Friday, September 4th. I will announce a winner on Saturday, September 5th.
- To enter this giveaway, leave a comment telling me what your favorite Jane Austen novel is or which character you relate to the most. Mine are Pride and Prejudice and Catherine Morland from Northanger Abbey.
- You must be a participant of Roof Beam Reader’s Austen in August event. I will check this sign-up page to confirm.
Good luck!
I have to say SENSE AND SENSIBILITY and Eleanor. I like her level-headiness. I can totally relate.
I love Eleanor as well! I respect her “level-headiness” very much, and wish I had more of that myself ;)
Those coasters are beautiful! You are very talented. After re-reading Pride and Prejudice (sort of through Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) and re-watching the movie, I’m pretty sure Pride and Prejudice is my favourite Austen novel. I really like how Elizabeth and Darcy are humbled by each other and fall in love.
Aww thanks! How is Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, by the way?
Hi!! You won this giveaway :) Please send me an email at maggie.jackson07 [at] gmail [dot] com with your mailing address.
Oh my goodness, thank you! I’m so excited and feel so honoured. I will email you directly. By the way, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was not my cup of tea. I should have just reread the original novel.
Ugh, sorry to hear it :( I still don’t think I’m going to read it, but I may try watching the movie eventually.
Not to be a copy cat or anything but my favorite novel is Pride and Prejudice and the character I relate to the most is Catherine Morland…. So I guess we’re basically twins? ;) So then I went and looked up some of your other posts…. namely your Wives and Daughters review (love that book!) and I see you even like Mansfield Park and Fanny Price!!!! Maybe we are twins separated at birth? ;)

Woah!! This makes me super happy to read! I haven’t met anyone before who also relates so much to Catherine Morland (and I also find that there aren’t a lot of people who like MP or Fanny Price either). So yes, we must be twins :)
Your coasters are beautiful!! I love that you themed each one to the mood of the book and its characters. I adore all her works, but was maybe most charmed by Emma. I didn’t think I’d like it as much as P & P since Emma can be a bit of a snot, but I actually loved the way it was written and how naive she was, but always learned from her mistakes. My favorite character though is, like you, Catherine Morland! I love a good spooky story, and of course – Mr. Tilney!
Thank you for hosting the giveaway!
Thanks!
I’m not a huge fan of Emma because, as you said, she’s a bit of a snot. But I really love some of the film and miniseries adaptations! I also appreciate seeing how Emma learns from her mistakes.
And yes–Mr. Tilney!!
Oh wow, these coasters are gorgeous. You don’t happen to have a tutorial in the works, do you?
I would have to say that “Emma” is my favorite of Austen’s novels, but I probably relate to Elizabeth Bennet more than any of her other characters. You could make an argument that I can be a little too quick to judge. :)
Thanks! I wanted to post a tutorial with this giveaway, but I ran out of time! I will try to post the tutorial at the same time that I announce a winner on Saturday :)
I like that you enjoy Emma so much; it’s actually probably my least favorite of Austen’s novels, but I really do like several of the film/miniseries adaptations!
These are gorgeous! Thanks so much for the chance. My favorite JA novel is Sense And Sensibility. I relate most to Marianne Dashwood, but I also hold a place for Elizabeth Bennet. I often think I’m a combination of the two. (I’m signed up under thetruebookaddict on Adam’s blog…I recently dropped the “the” ;) )
Thank you :) I’m finishing up Sense and Sensibility right now, and I’ve always liked Marianne for her “sensibility.”
Thank you for this amazing giveaway! I’m always torn on favorite book, but it’s currently either Pride and Prejudice or Northanger Abbey, and favorite characters are Lizzie Bennet and Catherine Morland. It’s impossible to choose just one. :)
I feel ya! Although my favorite is Pride and Prejudice, I also have a soft spot for Persuasion :)
Mansfield Park and Fanny Price, though I adore P&P and Elizabeth Bennett too. Thanks for such a great giveaway!
It’s great to hear that you love MP & Fanny Price! I always get so defensive when people complain about that novel. I really enjoyed it and I have a huge respect for Fanny’s character.
And of course, who doesn’t love P&P and Elizabeth Bennett? :)
I’m not a member of the event, so I’m not officially entering your giveaway… I just wanted to say these are GORGEOUS!! <3
Thanks Lisa!!! They were really fun to make too :)
Wow, those coasters are so pretty! I missed the giveaway deadline, but where can they be purchased?
